Three Things: Summer Construction Edition
Here in Minnesota, summer turns the whole state into a construction zone. New buildings, housing renovations, landscape projects, road construction. There’s no escaping it. This week, let’s turn the madness into something on paper, shall we? Here are three paintings to get you started.
Jeffrey Smart, The construction fence, 1978. Oil and acrylic on canvas. TarraWarra Museum of Art, Australia.
Sarah McKenzie, Patriot, 2010. Acrylic on canvas. www.sarahmckenzie.com

Three Things, Start of Summer Edition
This week’s Three Things will be quick, the better to get back to enjoying your day off. (And by you, I mean me. And you, too, of course.)
Memorial Day: remembering those who died in service, and the unofficial start to the summer season. Summer vacation, summer construction jobs, summer storms, summer picnics and potlucks. Here are three things to look forward to in the coming season.

Sarah McKenzie, Support, 2007. Oil on wood. www.sarahmckenzie.com
