Three Things: Mountain Edition

2012 October 22

I don’t think I need to extoll the virtues of a mountain terrain; its rugged majesty is hardly a secret. Let’s just cut to the chase: this week, I’ve got three mountain views for you to admire and then write about. Go!

Ferdinand Hodler, The Dents du Midi from Champéry, 1916. Oil on canvas. Private Collection.

Balthus, The Mountain, 1936-37. Oil on canvas. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY.

Yao Lu, Mountain and the straw houses in the summer, 2008. Photograph.
